The Exhibition Hockey Series brought more action as the 6ix Hockey team faced the Total Hockey Skills at the Scotiabank Pond – Rink 2. The 6ixers headed into this game after a convincing 3-0 win in the game against the Elite Development Red. And on the other side, the Hockey Skills THS won 1 in the game against the HDG in their last game.
6ix Hockey Team Review
The 6ixers headed into this game after a great win in their last game against the Elite Development Red. They had won their last two games, therefore their confidence was quite high before this encounter.
And they started this one strongly as Fabrizzi came close to open the score in the early minutes of the game.
However, it was Blake Kelly that broke the deadlock with a fine finish in the 2nd minute of the 1st period of the game.
After that opening goal, the 6ixers maintained their game intensity and managed to create some good chances upfront. Goaltender Tang was solid as he made some key saves to keep the 1-0 lead.
That good play paid off 10 minutes later as Jr. Canadiens Forward Carson Rehkopf made it 2-0 after a swift counter-attack.
But the 6ixers lost concentration as the conceded a goal three minutes later.
After the conceded goal, the 6ix Hockey team took control of the puck once again. They dominated on the ice and scored two goals through Dylon Edwards and Jacob Strizzi for a 4-2 lead at the break as the THS scored a goal in the last minute.
In the 2nd period of the game, the 6ixers scored the 5th goal with their first attack. It was Jack Pridham that was able to place the puck in the bottom right corner after an assist by Jr.Canadiens talisman Carson Rehkopf.
The 6ixers were the better team in this period as well. They conceded a tap-in goal in the 10th minute of the 2nd period but Jacob Strizzi sealed the win with a clinical finish in the 18th minute.
Total Hockey Skills THS Review
The THS did not have a good start in this game. After all, they were facing a 6ix Hockey team that has been dominant in their last two games. Therefore, it was no coincidence that they conceded an early goal. Moreover, they had to defend deep but were not able to prevent another conceded goal 10 minutes later. However, THS showed some glimpses of attacking potential as they stepped after the 2nd goal. And paid off for them as Toronto Red Wings forward Ethan Kirk scored to make it 1-2.
In the final 5 minutes of the 1st period, the THS conceded two quick goals that were a big blow for them. Yet they managed to pull one back in the last minute of the first period after multiple shots that were saved by the 6ixers goaltender Tang.
In the 2nd period of the game, THS were not able to impose their tempo. Once again, the conceded an early goal and that was a big blow as it broke their early confidence in the 2nd period. But, they tried their best. It is worth mentioning that Anthony Ditrani closed a tap-in goal after combining with Kirk and Adam Power.
Yet, that was not enough to prevent a defeat as THS conceded another goal for a final score of 6-3.
Final Thoughts
This was a third win in a row for the 6ixers. They showed that they are a young team with great offensive firepower and solid blulinesmen. Also, it is important to emphasize that Carson Rehkopf had an all-round outstanding performance in this game. Surely, there is more to come from the Jr. Canadiens forward.
