Don Mills Flyers Review
The Flyers hoped to bounce back in this game after the disappointing 6-1 defeat against the Jr. Canadiens in their previous “G” game. And they started the game in a strong manner with Luca Marrelli being superior in defence. Also, their offensive game looked promising as Dylan Edwards made some good runs. Additionally, he was a constant threat to the opposing defence and managed to open the score in the 13th minute with a nice finish from close range. Bluelinesmen Christopher Li was also a dominant figure and made some good long-range shots. However, the Flyers were not able to score the 2nd goal and ended the first period of the game with a 1-0 lead. Goaltender Tang made 3 saves in the first period of the game.
In the 2nd period of the game, the Flyers were under strong pressure from the first minute. The Don Mills side was not able to withstand that early pressure and conceded a goal in the 3rd minute of the 2nd period. The Flyers conceded another goal right after the restart. Therefore, the team was in shock and conceded the third goal in the 6th minute of the 2nd period. They only positive in the first 6 minutes was goaltender Tang as he made 5 saves.
Yet, the Flyers conceded another goal in the 12th minute of the second period of the game.
In the final period of the game, the Flyers faced a challenging task to get back into the game as they were trailing 4-1 behind. However, they did not cause significant problems except for a couple of decent shots by Cummins. The Flyers were the better team in the first period of the game. But they crashed in the 2nd period and that cost them the game.
Markham Majors Review
The Majors did not have a good start in this game. Moreover, they were under pressure in the first minutes of the game. Goaltender Quizi made two keys saves to keep the team in the game. However, the Majors conceded a goal in the 12th minute of the game. But on a positive note, Gleb Akimov and Logan Dumo combined well and came close to score.
In the 2nd period of the game, the Majors looked like a different team from the first minute of the game. Tricky forward Pittini managed to equalize. That goal had a galvanizing effect on the Majors as Taeo Artichuk scored the 2nd goal 30 seconds later. Now the team Markham side was playing really well. Their transitional movements were second to none and they managed to score the 3rd goal in the 6th minute.
The Majors scored the 4th goal in the 12th minute od the 2nd period. Jack Woynarski assisted Taeo Artichuk and the later scored from close range. A team celly followed as the Majors looked on track to seal the win in this game.
In the final period of the game, the Majors had a few chances to score the 5th goal but their efforts were mainly focused on containing the Flyers. Their defence was solid and defencemen Palermo had a commanding presence at the blue line.
Final Thought
The Flyers were the better team in the first period of the game. That challenged the Majors and they showed their quality in the 2nd period of the game. They managed to score 3 goals in 6 minutes and that is a trait of a strong team that has a great character. Therefore, it is safe to say that the Majors are a team with great potential.
