GTHL Game Review: Don Flyers Mills 7-5 Toronto Marlboros – AAA Bantam 05’

The Don Mills Flyers faced a challenging task as they clashed with the only undefeated team in the league, the Toronto Marlboros.
The Flyers headed into this game after a 3-3 draw in the game against the Young Nationals. And on the other side, the Marlboros also drew in the game against the Titans with a score of 2-2.

Don Mills Flyers Review
The Flyers managed to open the score after Marco Saroglou scored from close range in the 4th minute of the game. Also, three minutes later, forward Hudson Cummins doubled their lead with a clinical finish after a swift counter-attack. An emotional team celly followed as the Flyers seemed to be on the track to win this game.
However, their joy did not last long as their opponents scored two consecutive goals for a 2-2 at the end of the 1st period of the game.

In the 2nd period of the game, the Flyers conceded two consecutive goals in the 3rd and in the 4th minute. However, the Don Mills side managed to turn the tide of the game after the conceded goals. They took the initiative and managed to pull one back. They ended the period with being 3-4 behind, but their great play was promising.

In the 3rd period of the game, the Flyers scored the equalizer in the 2nd minute. Moreover, they managed to take the lead shortly after. Marco Saroglou was the scorer for both goals and the Flyers were flying and dominated the game.
Kristian Lamanna made it 6-4 after a great steal of the biscuit.
However, they conceded a goal right after to make the game even tenser. Therefore, the Flyers had to fight and to dig deep in the last minutes of the game. Yet, they prevailed and even scored the 7th goal in the last minute of the game. The final result was a 7-5 win for the Flyers, which was the surprise of the season so far.

Toronto Marlboros Review
The Marlboros headed into this game as the only team that was still undefeated in the GTHL this season.
Moreover, they were the firm favorites to win this game. However, they found themselves under severe pressure from the first minute of the game and conceded two consecutive goals. But the Marlboros are one of the best teams in the league. And they showed that quality through 2 goals by their talisman Barlow for a 2-2 result at the end of the 1st period of the game.

In the 2nd period of the game, the M’boros took control of the puck. They quickly managed to score two goals for a 4-2 lead. However, their opponents seemed determined and scored one goal to get back into the game. The Marborols had a few chances to score more goals, but Cho and Barlow were not able to convert their chances.

In the 3rd period of the game, the Marlboros conceded another goal in the first minutes of the period. Also, they conceded 2 more goals and scored one. Therefore, this was their first defeat in the GTHL during the 2019-20 season.

Final Thought
The Flyers managed to pull a great surprise and ended the unbeaten run of the Marlboros. They were the better team and deserved to win this game.
