Mississauga Reps Review
The Reps are one most talented teams in the GTHL. Also, the Mississauga based team looked solid and determined during the warm-up. Therefore, they had a strong start in the game as forward Mike Levin came close to score in the early minutes of the game. Additionally, Daniel Markevych and Mike Levin dominated the ice and goaltender Sebastine Monaco made 2 saves to deny the Flyers. That stability in the team enabled the Reps to mount a stronger pressure. Tactically they looked solid and their positioning confused their opponents. And that good play was rewarded as Mike Levin lighted the lamp from a close-range goal.
The team continued to play well with notable transitional movements and close-range shots. Daniyal Batrkhanov was rock solid in defence and had 2 long-range shots on goal. However, it was Ben Lalkin that scored the 2nd goal of the from a tap-in position. A great celly followed as the Reps were now on track to get their first win of the season.
The domination of the Reps continued. And they scored to 3rd goal in the 14th minute of the first period through Alexander Hebblethwaite.
In the 2nd period of the game, the Reps were under pressure in the first 5 minutes. However, goaltender Monaco was stable on the net with 3 saves. Also, Zingaro and Noah Vettese were solid and made some yard sale tackles.
Stephen Campbell came close to score but his close-range shot was saved.
In the final period of the game, the Reps seemed determined to hold on to their lead. They did not allow the Flyers to take control of the game. And it did not take them long to seal the win as they scored the 4th goal through Ben Lalkin.
Don Flyers MIlls Review
The Flyers hope to start this season with something out of this game. They played well in the early stages of the first period. Zak Krolicki was a notable presence at the blueline and goaltender Jayden Tang made some notable saves. Also, Jacob Keller came close to score by his shot was saved by Monaco. However, their opponents took control of the game and scored 3 goals in the first period of the game. The Flyers ended the first period with 4 shots on goal and 3 conceded goals.
In the 2nd period, the Flyers started better and even came close to score through Hudson Cummins. However, they were not able to break down the commanding defensive line of the Reps. Goaltender Tang was solid between the sticks as he made 2 key saves to keep the team in the game.
In the final period of the game, the Flyers looked a little bit jaded. Also, their opponents had control of the game and scored the 4th goal in the early minutes of the 3rd period. Therefore, the Flyers had a mountain to climb and were not able to get back into this game.
The Flyers played well at the start, but they faced a stronger opponent in this game.
Overall, this opening game did not bring much as the Reps secured a routine win over the Flyers. They were the better team and had total control of the score throughout the game. So it is safe to say that the Mississauga side will be a contender for the very top in the GTHL this season.
