Don Mills Flyers Review
The Flyers managed to secure their first win of the season in their last G game. Therefore, the winning momentum was on their side heading into this game. However, they did not start the game as they wanted. On that note, it is important to emphasize that their defence was up at the needed level. Moreover, defenceman Li and Marrelli managed to deal with the offensive players of the Rebels. However, the defensive duo was not able to prevent the Rebels from scoring in the 9th minute of the 1st period. The Flyers ended the first period 1:0 behind.
In the 2nd period of the game, the Flyers were up for the battle. Moreover, they had the in-form Dylan Edwards. The young forward had a significant impact in the final third and controlled the biscuit well. Also, Cummins had a good chance but his bullet-style shot was saved by the Rebels goaltender. The Flyers played well in the 2nd period of the game and looked like the better team. However, they are were not able to equalize the score.
In the final period of the game, the Flyers continued with their attacking play. Once again Li dominate the blue line and Cummins was the best player in their team. The transitional movements looked promising and their game on the flanks improved. Therefore, that resulted in Cummins scoring a goal for 1-1. An emotional team celly followed and the Don Mills side looked determined to turnaround this game. Yet, they conceded a goal in the final minutes of the game and unfortunately lost the game.
Mississauga Rebels Review
The Rebels started this game with determination to bounce back after the defeat in their last G game against the Reps. And that was there to be seen as they dominated the first 10 minutes of the game. The reward came in the 9th minute as Watson started a great counter-attack through the left side and scored a great goal.
The Rebels ended the first period with 5 shots on target.
In the 2nd period of the game, the Rebels faced a resurgent Flyers team. Therefore, they had to fight hard in order to preserve their lead. Their defensive players defended well. Graham was superb at the back and Constante had a good chance to make it 2-0. However, they ended the 2nd period with the same 1-0 lead.
In the 3rd period of the game, the Rebels were under intensive pressure. And that resulted in them conceding a goal. However, the Mississauga side regrouped and managed to take the lead again. Watson was the man again that scored the goal with a clinical finish from close range. In the final minutes of the game, the Rebels had to defend deep and showed great character as they preserved their lead.
Final Thought
All in all, both teams deserved something out of this game. The Don Mills side was playing well and they were unfortunate not to get at least a draw in this game. But the Rebels showed tactical maturity and formation discipline, and great character as they stick to their lead in the final moments of the game.
