GTHL Game Review – Don Mills Flyers 1:6 Toronto Jr. Canadiens – AAA Bantam 05’

The GTHL brought more action as the Don Mills Flyers clashed with Toronto Jr. Canadiens. The Flyers headed into this game after a 4-2 defeat in the game against the Kings. And on the other side, the Jr. Canadiens drew 1-1 in their last game against the Senators.
Toronto Jr. Canadiens Review
They were favourites heading into this game. Moreover, they started really strong, but it took them some time to break their opponents. They had 6 shots on goal in the first period, but they managed to score one goal in the last minute of the period. Goaltender Rizzo made three saves in the first 15 minutes of the game.
In the 2nd period of the game, the Jr. Canadiens started to dominate even more. Their defence brushed off all the attacks of the Flyers and that enabled Ramani, Wilson, but it was Carson Rehkopf that scored the 2nd goal in the 9th minute of the 2nd period. Pinelli and Sima also came close to score but their shots were saved by the opposing goaltender. The Toronto side made 8 shots on goal in the 2nd period of the game.
In the final period, the Jr. Canadiens put even more pressure. Their defence made some notable yard sale tackles and their offensive game was focused on scoring more goals. Then flamboyant forward Rehkopf stepped up to the scene and managed to score another goal. Also, the talented forward player scored another shortly after, to make it 4-0 for the Toronto side. By the end of the game, the team scored 2 more goals and conceded one, and ended with a 6-1 routine win.
Don Mills Flyers Form
The Flyers were facing a very challenging task in this game. Their opponents dropped points in the game against the Senators, a team that had lost all their previous games before the encounter with the Jr. Canadiens. But the Flyers looked solid in the early part of the first period of the game. Also, they played well throughout the first period and came close to score on three occasions. However, they conceded a goal in the last minute of the first period of the game.
In the 2nd period of the game, the Flyers were under constant pressure. Goaltender Tang was their main men as he made 7 saves and conceded one goal. The Flyers still showed signs that they are not giving up. Forward Jacob Keller played well and came close to score. Also, Christopher Li caused some problems, but his shot ended up as a breadbasket.
In the final period of the game, the Flyers were not able to prevent the gong-show as they Jr.Canadiens scored 4 goals. However, the Flyers still looked dangerous at moments. Goaltender tang managed to make 5 saves. Marco Saroglou pulled one goal back for a final result of 1-6.
Final Thought
All in all, Jr. Canadiens are a team that is one of the best in the GTHL. They played well and were always in control. it was a routine win for them. As for the Flyers, they showed glimpses of quality at a certain period of the game. But that was not enough for them to put significant pressure on their opponents in this game.
