Markham Majors Review
The Majors made a good start of the game. Moreover, their goaltender Daniel Heroux pulled out a remarkable save in the early minutes of the game. Also, forward Wang came close to score in the first minutes of the first period of the game. However, their opponents stepped up in the game and a real battle started on the ice. Yet, the Majors managed to take advantage of that open play and scored in the 11th minute through Taeo Artichuk.
In the 2nd period of the game, the game was tense with both sides having very good chances to score. However, the Majors were caught on two occasions which resulted in 2 conceded goals.
The Markham team came back stronger after the conceded goals and looked determined to get back into the game. Bluelinesmen McGowan grew into the game and had a commanding presence on the blue line. They started to tackle better and soon defencemen Ethan Girard managed to score from a long-range to make it 2-2.
Goaltender Heroux also made 6 saves in the 2nd period of the game.
In the 3rd period of the game, the game continued in the same fashion with strong tackles and dedication. However, the Majors took advantage of that open play again and took a 3-2 lead through Giankarlo Cerpnjak through a counter-attack. The managed to prevail in the final minutes and celebrated a hard-fought win.
Toronto Red Wings Review
The Red Wings had a strong start of the game. Moreover, they had the winning momentum on their side as they demolished the Senators in their last G game. Read came close to score and goaltender Poma made a few saves in the early minutes. However, the Red Wings conceded the first goal in the 11 minutes and lost the early domination.
In the 2nd period of the game, the Red Wings were up for battle. But their opponents looked strong as well. Yet, the Toronto side managed to do a complete turnaround with 2 consecutive goals through Grahn and McKenna.
Especially notable was McKenna’s goal because it was the end result of a great teamwork. Davies made the assist in what looked like one of the best goals of the season so far. The Majors managed to score to get back into the game, but the Red Wings were the slightly better team in the 2nd period of the game.
In the final period of the game, both sides went for a win. The Red Wings were mounting pressure and controlled the puck better. However, their opponents scored the 3rd goal through a counter-attack. They were not able to get back into the game and were unlucky to lose this game.
All in all, this was a great team between two teams that really stepped up. The Majors managed to win the game, but the Red Wings deserved to get at least a draw. Nevertheless, this was a great game that showed the GTHL is a league filled with talented and determined players.
