The GTHL was back in action as the Markham Majors clashed with the Mississauga Rebels.
The Majors headed into this game after a 4:0 win the game against the Rangers. And on the other side, the Rebels played a 1-1 draw in their last G game against the Jr. Canadiens.

Markham Majors Review
The Majors had the winning momentum on their side as they won convincingly in their last GTHL game.
And it did not take them long to open the score in this game. It was forward Connor Haynes that placed a clinical shot in the bottom left corner in the 3rd minute.
However, the Majors dropped their pace and lost control of the puck after that goal. Goaltender Quizi was forced to make 3 saves in the next 3 minutes. However, his good form was not enough to prevent the Majors from conceding two goals. Markham fought back and scored an equalizer in the 11th minute through forward Brett Bouchard.

In the 2nd period of the game, the Majors stepped up their game. They controlled the biscuit well and their transitional movements were fast and effective. Additionally, their defencemen looked comfortable at the blue line.
Therefore, that good play had a galvanizing effect on the Majors’ top line. And once again, it was their main man Artichuk that scored a tap-in to make it 3-2 for the Markham side. Artichuk was once effective in front of goal and made it 4-2. Finally, Haynes made it 5-2 which ensured the win for the Majors.

In the final period of the game, the Majors slowed down the game and defended well. Their opponents took more risks going forward. So the Markham side capitalized on that and scored their 6th goal in the game for a 6-2 win.

Mississauga Rebels
The Rebels played a great tactical game against the Jr. Canadians in their last GTHL game. They looked solid at the blue line and there was an expectation that they can repeat the same in this game.
However, they were not able to keep that momentum as they conceded in the 3rd minute.
Yet, after that goal, the Rebels looked like a top-class side and took control of the game. Therefore, the were able to equalize relatively easy. The Rebels took the lead through Christie in the 9th minute. But two minutes later they conceded another goal and the period ended 2-2.
Goaltender Singh made 7 saves in the first period of the game, including 5 in the first 5 minutes.

In the 2nd period of the game, the Rebels were dominated. They were under constant pressure and goaltender Singh was their main defensive weapon. And although he was great, the Rebels still conceded 3 goals in the 2nd period.
On a positive note, Christie had 3 good chances to score but his shots were saved by the opposing goaltender.

In the final period of the game, the Rebels took more risks going forward. They showed determination and aggression. But that was too late. The Missaussa side conceded another goal in their empty net for a final score of 6-2.

Final Thoughts
All in all, the Majors deserved to win this game. They were the better team and surely there is more to come from them. As for the Rebels, it is important to emphasize that they looked strong in the 1st and in the final period of the game. But, they lost the game in those 5 minutes of the 2nd period as they conceded the three goals.
