The GTHL was back in action as the North York Rangers clashed with the Toronto Jr. Canadiens.
The Jr.Canadiens headed into this game after a 2-3 defeat in the game against the Marlboros. And the Rangers lost against the Hockey Reps with a score of 3-2.
Toronto Jr. Canadiens Review
The Canadiens were once again favourites to win this game. Moreover, they started the game with some great team play between Rehkopf, Sima, Romani and Pinelli. And it did not tool them long to open the score. Their talisman Rehkopf made a great solo effort and put the puck in the net with a fine finish. That goal spurred the Toronto side and soon forward Luc Malkhassian made it 2-0 after it came one on one with the opposing goaltender.
Luc Malkhassian was on fire as he scored another goal right after the restart to make it 3-0 for the Jr. Canadiens.
In the 2nd period of the game, the Toronto side continued with their domination. And it did not take long for them to score as Cho put his name on the score sheet with a fine finish in the 1st minute of the game.
Luc Malkhassian also continued to dominate and scored another goal in the Canadiens. They ended the 2nd period with a total of 9 shots on target.
In the final period of the game, the Jr. Canadiens had to defend at the start as the Rangers stepped up. However, their tactical maturity came to the surface as Luc Malkhassian managed to steal the biscuit and scored the 7th goal of the game. They also scored another goal until the end to make it 8-0.
North York Rangers Review
The Rangers were the underdogs in this game. Goaltender Gillespie was immediately called into action and he had to make some notable saves. Aydan Mann had some notable runs and came close to score on 2 occasions. However, the Rangers were not able to withstand the constant pressure of the Canadiens and conceded 3 goals in the 1st period.
In the 2nd period of the game, the Rangers were bombarded with shots and the pressure was mounting near their net. They could not much other than Gillespie making 6 saves. But they also conceded 3 goals in the 2nd period. Therefore, their chances to get back into the game were slim.
In the final period of the game, the Rangers pushed back and started to attack more. However, they were caught on the break and conceded two more goals. They lost the game 8-0 and the result was probably fair as they were not able to create much in the game.
Final Thought
The Jr. Canadiens once again showed their class and domination in the GTHL. They were the better team and were ruthless in front of goal. Surely they are probably the main favourites for the top spot in the league.
