The GTHL was back in action as the Toronto Jr. Canadiens clashed with the Toronto Young Nationals at the Ice Sports 3.
The Jr. Canadiens headed into this game after a 4-3 win in the game against the Vaughan Kings. And on the other side, the Nationals played a 3-3 draw in the game against the Flyers.
Toronto Jr. Canadiens Review
The Canadiens started this game with an aggressive and determined approach. And right away, they managed to take a 1-0 lead in the 8th minute of the first period. Therefore, a great team celly followed as the Toronto side showed their quality in the 1st period. Moreover, they managed to double their lead in the 12th minute of the 1st period of the game.
However, they dropped their pace after the goal and their opponents capitalized on that as they scored a goal a minute later. Also, Jr. Canadiens were under severe pressure and were not able to maintain their lead. The Nationals scored in the last minute of the game for a 2-2 score at the end of the first period.
In the 2nd period of the game, the Toronto side was not playing at their usual level. The Jr. Canadiens conceded a goal in the 1st minute of the 2nd period. Also, they were facing a lot more attacks through the flanks and their goaltender had to make some key saves. Yet, they were not able to prevent their opponents from taking a 4-2 lead.
In the final period of the game, the Jr. Canadiens stepped up their game. All of a sudden, they look like a top-class team with some NHL traits. They completely dominated every aspect of the game and scored 6 goals in the 3rd period of the game for a final result of 8-4.
Toronto Young Nationals Review
The Nationals had a slow start in this game. Moreover, they were not able to impose their game and conceded a goal in the 8th minute of the game. Also, the conceded another goal in the 12th minute. However, they managed to re-organize and pulled one back through Hirsh in the 13th minute. That goal had a galvanizing effect on the team as they equalized the score in the final seconds in the game.
In the 2nd period of the game, the Nationals dominated. Moreover, they took the lead in the 1st minute of the 2nd fifteen minutes and scored the 4th goal in the 11th minute. The team played well, they were dangerous going forward and their defence was top class. It looked like the Nationals are on track to pull a surprise in this game.
In the final period of the game, the Nationals faced a determined Canadiens team. Moreover, they were under severe pressure. And that resulted in 6 conceded goals for a final result of 8-4. The Nationals played in the first and in the 2nd period of the game. However, they were not able to contain the Canadiens in the final period of the game.
Both teams played well at certain parts of the game. The Nationals showed their quality in the 2nd period of the game. However, the total domination of the Jr. Canadiens in the final period of the game put any doubt on the side about which team is going to win this game.
