GTHL Game Review: Toronto Marlboros 5 : 0 Toronto Red Wings – AAA Bantam 05’

The GTHL was back in action as the Toronto Marlboros faced their local rivals, the Toronto Red Wings.
The Marlboros headed into this game after a 4-1 in the game against the Mississauga Senators.
And on the other side, the Red Wings suffered a heavy 8-1 defeat in the game against the Reps.
Toronto Marlboros Review
The Marlboros are one of the best teams in the GTHL AAA Bantam. And it did not take long for them to open the score as their talisman Barlow scored through a solo effort in the 1st minute of the game.
However, the M’boros soon found themselves defending as their opponents stepped up in the game. Therefore, goaltender Andreas Nikitopoulos was forced to make some remarkable saves.
In the 2nd period of the game, the Marlboros took control from the start. Their dominance was there to be seen as McDonald made it 2-0 in the 3rd minute.
Two minutes later, Ryan Nicholas made it 3-0. The talented forward scored another goal in the 15th minute to make it 4-0. The defence was rock solid as Bertucci and Dell’ Elce dealt with the Red Wings top line. Also, Dell’ Elce managed to score in the last seconds of the 2nd period of the game.
In the final period of the game, the Marlboros took a more tactical approach. They were focused on maintaining their lead and saving their energy. They were successful as the game ended 5-0.
Toronto Red Wings Review
The Red Wings did not have a good start in this game. They conceded in the 1st minute of the game. However, they soon stepped up and had some great chances to score. Grahn was a dominant figure and his transitional movements were top class. Also, Chan, Davies and Kirk played well. Yet, they were not able to take advantage of their chances in the first period of the game.
In the 2nd period of the game, the Red Wings dropped their pace and soon found themself defending. They were not able to withstand the pressure and conceded 2 goals in the first 5 minutes of the final period. And the were not able to get back into the game. They conceded two goals in the last minute of the 2nd period.
In the final period of the game, the Red Wings lacked energy and power. After all, they were 5-0 behind and it was difficult for them to break the lines of the Marlboros. Chan and Lui had good chances but were not able to score.
Therefore, the end result was a 5-0 defeat for the Red Wings.
Prediction
All in all, the Marlboros managed to take advantage of their chances. They are the better team and that is why the won the game. A simple and routine win.
