GTHL Game Review: Toronto Young Nationals 3 : 3 Don Mills Flyers – AAA Bantam 05’

The GTHL was back in action as the Toronto Young Nationals clashed with the Don Mills Flyers. The Nationals headed into this game after a 1-1 draw in the game against the Rangers. And on the other side, the Flyers pulled won 5-6 in a tight game against the Red Wings.
Toronto Young Nationals Review
The Nationals started this game with a high level of determination. Their defensive line was at the top of their game in the first 5 minutes of the first period. Andovski was dominant at the blue line and his transitional movements were noticeable.
That good game paid off as McKenzie scored the opener with a long-range shot in the 3rd minute.
The Young Nationals were the better team in the first period. And they doubled their lead through Capizzo in the 13th minute. Goaltender Pratt made several saves in the first period of the game.
In the 2nd period of the game, the Toronto side was facing an imminent pressure.
Therefore, they conceded a goal in the 6th minute of the 2nd period. Two minutes letter, the Nationals conceded another goal. It seemed that the Toronto side was surprised by the strong response from the Flyers. That confusion lasted throughout the 2nd period. And the Nationals conceded the 3rd goal in the 11th minute.
However, that was an eye-opener for the Nationals as they quickly re-took control of the game. And a minute later, they equalized through Allen.
In the final period of the game, the Nationals needed to improve their defensive and their offensive game. While they managed to solidify their defence, their offensive efforts came short as the game ended 3-3.
Don Mills Flyers Review
The Flyers did not start this game well. Moreover, they faced immediate pressure from their opponents. Also, the conceded two goals in the first period of the game. The only positive was the one on once chance, but defencemen Luca Marrelli shot was saved.
In the 2nd period of the game, the Flyers looked like a different team. They dominated in the middle of the ice and dominated in possession. Defencemen Kyle Jassome came close to score in the first minutes of the 2nd period. But his shot was saved. However, the Flyers managed to score in the 6th minute through clinical forward Dylan Edwards.
A united team celly followed and the team was at the top of their game.
The Dons managed to get back to 2-2 as Marco Saroglou scored with a good finish in the left bottom corner.
The Flyers dominated at this point and scored the 3rd goal in the 11th minute through Zak Krolicki.
However, they dropped their focus and conceded a goal a minute later for a 3-3 score at the end of the 2nd period.
In the final period of the game, the Flyers faced a determined GTHL team. That neutralized their opponents offensive game. But that was not enough to make anything significant. The game ended 3-3.
Final Thoughts
Overall, this was a game between two sides that have similar quality and play with a similar style. Both teams had good periods in the game. And the draw is probably a fair result.
