Vaughan Kings Review
The Kings had the winning momentum in their camp after a perfect performance in their last G game against the Red Wings. However, they conceded in the 2nd minute after they got caught on the counter-attack.
Still, they looked compact and goaltender Vaccari was up to the task when called upon. Also, Andrew Lanni had some notable long-range shots. Yet, the Kings were not able to score the equalizer. Therefore, their trailed 1-0 at the end of the first period.
In the 2nd period of the game, the Kings looked strong. Moreover, they managed to maintain a solid defensive shape. But their good play on the blue line was not enough for a turnaround in this game. Their offensive game was solid as well and Fehr came close to score. But his shot was saved by the opposing goaltender.
In the final period of the game, the Kings faced constant pressure. But the also took their fair share of attacking. Martino, Mayo and Strizz also had some good chances. However, the Kings got caught and conceded a two goals in the final period of the game. After the conceded goals, they controlled the puck well. But were unable to break the lines of the Canadiens.
Toronto Jr. Canadiens Review
The Canadiens are one of the best teams in the Under 15 AAA. Moreover, they have one of the best offensive lines in the GTHL. They showed that right away as they opened the score in the 2nd minute through Dan Holding.
A short team celly followed as the Canadiens remained focused on winning the game.
Laurenza and Romani played great and were close to scoring on a few occasions. But their shots were saved by goaltender Vaccari.
In the 2nd period of the game, the Toronto side played with a high level of tactical awareness. They tried to maintain a solid base at the blue line. And they were effective as their defenders were in commanding form. Guo even came close to score, but his shot was saved on the goal line.
In the final period of the game, the Jr.Canadiens took control of the game. They were dominating the middle of the ice and controlled the puck. Therefore, the domino effect of that good play was two goals scored by McNamara and Harding for a final result of 3-1 in this game. The Jr. Canadiens were the better team and they deserved to win this game.
Final Thoughts
All in all, both teams went for the win. However, the Canadiens are the better teams and took advantage of that. They were better in the 1st period, were stable in the 2nd, and dominated the 3rd period. A proper tactical performance by a team that has the potential to be champions.
