The GTHL was back in action as the Mississauga Reps clashed with the Don Mills Flyers.
Mississauga Reps Review
The Reps started this game with determination. That was there to be seen as they opened the score in the 1st minute of the game through forward Ivan Fabjan. Five minutes later, they added the 2nd goal through Campbell. However, the Mississauga side dropped their pace in the 2nd part of the 1st period. Therefore, goaltender Akbari had to make some key saves. Yet, he was beaten from close range in the 9th minute.
Nevertheless, the Reps ended the first period of the game with a deserved 2-1 lead.
In the 2nd period of the game, the Mississauga side had a strong start once again. And flamboyant forward Campbell scored a “tap in” in the 2nd minute. Two minutes late, Levin made it 4-1. The Reps looked like a top-class side as the dominated the game. Yet, they still conceded one goal and that got their opponents back in the game.
In the final period of the game, the Reps were under pressure from the first minute. They were not able to withstand the attacks and conceded two goals in the first 4 minutes. The score was 4-4 and the momentum was no more on their side. Yet, the Reps are a very talented side with great young players. They showed that as they managed to take the lead again through Campbell. The Reps scored the 6th goal in the final moments for an end result of 6-4.
Don Mills Flyers Review
The Flyers did not have a good start in this game. Moreover, they conceded 2 goals in the first 4 minutes of the game. And that was a wake-up call for them. They stepped up in the game. Their defence improved after the conceded goals and they started to mount dangerous attacks. That good play resulted in a goal in the 11th minute through their talisman Marco Saroglou.
In the 2nd period of the game, the Flyers once again started slow. Therefore, once again they conceded two early goals. They were 4-1 behind, but they slowly took control of the game. Their transitional movements looked sharp and effective. The Flyers managed to score a goal in the 11th minute and they were back in the game.
In the final period of the game, the Flyers continued with their offensive approach. Moreover, they managed to score 2 goals for a 4-4 score. Once again, it was Marco Saroglou and Leweicki scored the 4th goal.
Nevertheless, the Flyers dropped their pace in the game due to fatigue. And slowly their opponents took control once again. Therefore, they conceded 2 goals for 6-4 defeat.
This was a game in which both teams had their own periods of domination. However, the Reps had enough energy in the end and they managed to capitalize on that. They deserved to win this game.
